Native Mussels

Freshwater mussels are mollusks, and are relatives of snails, slugs, and even octopus. There are 50 different species of mussels native to Minnesota. Sadly, due to invaders, 28 of our 50 species of mussels are already listed as endangered or threatened. According to the MN DNR page, 3 of which are already extinct from Minnesota waters.
